The Local Plan's treatment of green spaces is not sufficiently robust and lacks a forward-thinking approach to sustainability. As a community heavily reliant on parks and natural areas for recreation and biodiversity, it is alarming that there are no firm protections for existing green spaces. The importance of such areas cannot be overstated, as they provide invaluable resources for both mental health and community cohesion. A lack of preservation could lead to a permanent loss of character for our district and degrade the community's quality of life. Introducing rigorous protections for our green areas must be prioritised.
