As someone who treasures the historical character of our area, I am dismayed by the Local Plan’s apparent neglect of heritage preservation. The vision for future development should not bulldoze over our historical identity, which is intrinsic to community pride and cohesion. Careful consideration towards preserving heritage sites and integrating them into new developments is vital. A focus solely on modernisation disregards the value of our history and could result in the blight of our unique character. More imaginative approaches blending old with new would enhance rather than detract from the neighbourhood.
