The proposed Local Plan’s approach to housing development raises several red flags for me as a long-time resident. While I appreciate the intention to manage growth sustainably, the generic housing policies fail to consider the character of our existing communities or provide for affordable housing. It seems that there is merely a focus on quantity rather than quality, which might lead to further overcrowding without enhancing community cohesion or providing necessary services. With many families struggling to find suitable accommodation, it’s crucial that future developments include provisions for diverse housing types that meet various social needs. If we do not address these concerns, we risk creating a disjointed living environment lacking community spirit and opportunities for collaboration and support amongst residents.
