While I appreciate the council's efforts to address housing needs within Example District, the Spatial Housing Strategy and Infrastructure Delivery proposal leaves much to be desired. The predominant strategy of relying on large strategic developments does not account for the diverse housing needs evident in rural areas. Localised growth may provide more effective solutions, addressing small communities whilst ensuring existing public services are not overwhelmed. Additionally, the emphasis on garden villages and infrastructure-led growth lacks a deep understanding of community dynamics and the necessary engagement with residents. It feels disheartening to witness a lack of local consultation regarding such an impactful decision; the voices and thoughts of current residents seem to be an afterthought. Furthermore, the lack of concrete commitment to improving local amenities with new developments is worrisome, as existing resources must not be neglected in the face of rapid expansion.
